Runner Spotlight: Emily Sarazin to Run Boston Marathon on Behalf of the Foundation

We are thrilled to share that MetroWest resident Emily Sarazin will be running the 129th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 21, 2025, in support of the Community Foundation for MetroWest (CFMW).

Emily has always been an athlete. From the age of four, she could be found scoring goals as a competitive soccer player. As she got older, she discovered her love for running. After completing several half marathons, Emily decided it was time to take on the challenge of a full marathon.

In 2014, she ran her first marathon in Ottawa, Canada, alongside her now-husband, Brennan. That race brought more than just a medal – it also brought a proposal. Brennan popped the question, and Emily said yes.

Emily and Brennan continue to call MetroWest home, now living in Natick with their sons, Mason (5) and Cooper (7). Running remains a major part of their lives and an outlet for the family. “I love the influence my running/training has on my sons,” Emily says, “Mason and Cooper have both already said they want to run the Boston Marathon one day (and they were both upset when I told them they’d have to wait until they turn 18!).”

When searching for an organization to partner with for this year’s marathon, Emily found a strong connection with the Foundation’s mission. “I love that the local community benefits, and I admire how the Foundation’s team understands the community’s current and greatest needs,” Emily explained. “The Foundation truly brings the ‘it takes a village’ concept to life, and I believe that building up the community will positively impact everyone. Each area of focus—human services, hunger relief, and more—is essential.”

CFMW’s Youth in Philanthropy program particularly resonates with Emily. Reflecting on her own formative experiences in community service, Emily shared, “I was able to participate in several community service opportunities growing up, which helped mold my perspective, and I hope my kids can take part in something similar.”

As Emily continues to train and fundraise, she has been “blown away” by everyone’s generosity. “It’s incredible to see people come together in such a positive way!” she says.
