Foundation Partner Bellforge Arts Center Featured on GBH Radio’s The Culture Show

We were thrilled to hear our Spring Inspiration Breakfast panel moderator Jared Bowen (GBH Executive Arts Editor and Host of The Culture Show) and panelist Jean Mineo (Executive Director, Bellforge Art Center), continuing the conversation around the transformative power of the arts on GBH’s The Culture Show. On the August 19th episode, at the 33 min mark, Mineo shared the Bellforge Art Center’s plans for expansion and the exciting events to look forward to this fall.

Mineo and Bowen, who first met at the Community Foundation for MetroWest’s Spring Inspiration Breakfast in May 2024, share a deep passion for the arts. Their engaging discussion on The Culture Show explores the transformative power of the arts and Bellforge’s exciting plans for the future.

The Bellforge Arts Center is a vibrant arts complex nestled on the historic grounds of the Medfield State Hospital. Once a center for healing and innovation, the campus is now being transformed into a space for artistic expression, community engagement, and outdoor recreation.

The Community Foundation for MetroWest was instrumental in Bellforge’s early success. Our critical early funding in 2018 helped launch the center’s inaugural season, drawing over 5,000 attendees. Today, attendance has doubled, underscoring the region’s thriving demand for arts and cultural experiences. Remarkably, visitors have come from over 200 zip codes across Massachusetts, demonstrating Bellforge’s broad appeal and impact.

Bellforge is committed to inclusivity and supporting artists. Last year, 30% of their performers were BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and they aim for the same this year. They also support over 100 artists each season, ensuring everyone gets paid – even for free events.

This is just the beginning for Bellforge Arts Center. Head over to GBH’s The Culture Show to hear more about their exciting fall programming and future expansion plans. Together, with the support of our community, we can create a vibrant space where everyone can experience the joy of the arts!
