Erich Smith is executive vice president and New England Region Managing Director with PNC Private Bank®. In this role, Erich works with his leadership team to ensure the delivery of Private Bank services and capabilities to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Prior to his role as New England Region Managing Director, Erich served as the chief operating officer where he was responsible for administrative and operational oversight for PNC Private Bank. Before joining PNC in August 2018, Erich held numerous leadership roles including chief operating officer for BNY Mellon’s wealth management business. He brings over 30 years of investment and banking experience.
As the COO at BNY Mellon he oversaw the marketing, technology and operations groups, as well as project management, and mergers and acquisitions activities. Erich also held roles as executive director of International Wealth Management, president of its Central Markets region, national director of Wealth Strategy, managing director for Expansion Markets, and head of Portfolio Management for Western Pennsylvania for BNY Mellon.
Erich received a Bachelors degree from Lake Forest College and an MBA from Suffolk University. He is also a graduate of the National Trust School at Northwestern and a CFA charter holder.
He is a member of the Deans Cabinet, Suffolk University Business School and a member of the board of directors of the Andy Warhol Museum. He is the former council president of the Boy Scouts of America, Laurel Highlands.
